The Green Bay Packers reportedly acquire QB Malik Willis from the Tennessee Titans to back up Jordan Love.
In a strategic move, the Packers exchanged a 2025 seventh-round pick for Willis, as confirmed by various sources.
Malik Willis, who was selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Titans, brings valuable game experience to Green Bay. Over his first two seasons, he participated in 11 games, with three of those being starts during his rookie year. His career statistics include a 53.0% completion rate, totaling 350 passing yards, with no touchdowns and three interceptions. On the ground, he has 32 rushing attempts for 144 yards and one touchdown.
Willis was regarded as one of the most promising quarterback prospects in a less competitive 2022 draft class, thanks to an impressive final season at Liberty University. However, he fell to the third round, and after a somewhat inconsistent rookie season, his role diminished when the Titans selected Will Levis early in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Before acquiring Willis, the Packers’ quarterback depth chart featured second-year players Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt. Neither quarterback had taken the field in a competitive NFL game.
The Packers are set to kick off their season next Friday against the Philadelphia Eagles in São Paulo, Brazil, marking an exciting start for the team and its new backup quarterback.
