Wrexham has announced plans for a new 5,500-person capacity Kop Stand at its Racecourse ground, marking a significant step forward in the club’s efforts to modernize its facilities under the stewardship of Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
The club revealed on Monday that this new stand will meet UEFA standards, allowing Wrexham to host the European Under-19 Championship in 2026, alongside other international matches in the years to come.
Since acquiring the Welsh club in 2021, Reynolds and McElhenney have been dedicated to revitalizing the team’s home ground, which has become a focal point of the documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham.” Their commitment to restoring the Racecourse’s four stands is evident in this latest development.
Wrexham has indicated that the design of the new Kop Stand will also feature a player tunnel, enhancing the matchday experience as players make their entrance onto the pitch.
