In the Lakers’ recent loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves at Acrisure Arena, Bronny scored two points and showcased his defensive skills by blocking three shots. LeBron, who sat out the game, watched his son from the sidelines, fully engaged in the moment.
“Yeah, there were some things we discussed,” Bronny remarked. “I would prefer not to go into specifics, but it was all about support and the importance of hard work and self-confidence.”
Following practice on Saturday, LeBron expressed his satisfaction in witnessing Bronny take another step in his basketball career, especially after a challenging year marked by adversity. Just over a year ago, Bronny was still in high school.
“It was fantastic to see Bronny out there,” LeBron stated, highlighting the pride he feels as a father.
Bronny’s journey has been remarkable. After recovering from a cardiac arrest in July 2023, he played part of a season at Southern California before being drafted by the Lakers in the second round.
During his 16 minutes on the court, Bronny’s shooting was challenging as he went 1 for 6, but his defensive prowess earned praise. Lakers coach JJ Redick referred to him as “disruptive” to opponents, indicating his impact on the game.
“I’d say it’s a game for new beginnings,” Bronny reflected. “I just want to get comfortable and find my rhythm, similar to what I did in summer league.”
The upcoming game against the Suns is particularly special, as it coincides with Bronny’s 20th birthday. This milestone adds an extra layer of excitement to the event.

“We want to build on what we accomplished in practice,” LeBron noted. “It’s been a while since many of us have played in a game setting, and that was evident on Friday.”
