Knicks Forced into Rebuild After Mikal Bridges Trade Misfire

Draymond Green Predicts Knicks’ Gamble on Mikal Bridges Will Falter

Draymond Green, a four-time NBA champion, believes the Knicks’ gamble on Mikal Bridges will ultimately fail and force another rebuild for the team. On his podcast, "The Draymond Green Show," Green expressed skepticism that the Knicks’ current roster could surpass the Celtics. Drawing parallels to the Houston Rockets’ failed attempts against the Warriors, he suggests the Knicks’ efforts may follow a similar pattern of short-lived success, leading to a downfall similar to Houston’s post-Capela struggles.

The Knicks boldly traded five future first-round picks and a pick swap for Bridges, signaling their intention to build a competitive team. Despite Bridges’ solid reputation and his chemistry with former college teammate Jalen Brunson, Green doubts this group’s ability to topple Boston. He highlights the dependency on Jalen Brunson’s stardom, OG Anunoby’s health, and Julius Randle’s impact, asserting the move risks a rebuild if it fails in the next few years.

While Green respects the Knicks’ decision to take this chance, he remains doubtful. He acknowledges the talent of Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, and OG Anunoby, yet insists that the group isn’t strong enough to challenge Boston. Despite his previous incorrect prediction regarding the Knicks’ playoff performance against the 76ers, Green maintains his stance on this potential outcome.
