The Arizona Cardinals reportedly add former Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Josh Sweat on a four-year deal worth $76.4 million.
This lucrative agreement, as reported by ESPN on Monday, includes a substantial $41 million guaranteed, marking a significant financial commitment from the Cardinals.
Sweat played an essential role in the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs. He tallied 2.5 sacks and six tackles during the 40-22 victory, with one of his pressures leading to a crucial interception thrown by Patrick Mahomes in the first half.
The Super Bowl win capped off a remarkable season for Sweat, who will celebrate his 28th birthday later this month. Over 16 regular-season games, he amassed 41 tackles and eight sacks, contributing to a total of 33 sacks over the past four years.
Joining the Cardinals also reunites Sweat with head coach Jonathan Gannon, who served as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator during two of Sweat’s seasons in Philadelphia. In Gannon’s final year with the Eagles in 2022, Sweat achieved a career-high of 11.0 sacks, showcasing his potential as a key player in Arizona’s defensive lineup.
