Jets Cornerback Tae Hayes Arrested on Marijuana Charges

Tae Hayes Arrested for Marijuana Possession

Early Sunday morning, Jets cornerback Tae Hayes was arrested in Alabama on a charge of marijuana possession, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. Hayes was booked and released after posting a $300 bond. The Jets issued a statement acknowledging the arrest but refraining from further comment due to the ongoing legal matter.

Hayes, a 26-year-old defensive back, is familiar with changing teams, having played for nine different NFL rosters in five years. In 2019, he went undrafted from Appalachian State and later captured a USFL championship with the Birmingham Stallions in 2022. During the 2023 season, he appeared in one game for the Jets but has yet to start in any of his 14 career NFL games.

The Jets veterans are scheduled to report to training camp on July 23 at their Florham Park, N.J. facility. This critical period will determine Hayes’ future with the team amid his recent legal issues.
