The Minnesota Vikings are indeed a “possibility” for signing Aaron Rodgers, as noted by FOX Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.
Following the New York Jets’ recent announcement that they are moving on from Rodgers after two seasons, the veteran quarterback has also drawn interest from the New York Giants. The Vikings’ interest comes at a pivotal time, especially after the Seattle Seahawks targeted quarterback Sam Darnold, who previously led the Vikings to a successful 14-3 season in 2024, following Geno Smith’s trade to the Las Vegas Raiders.
In the last season, Rodgers recorded impressive stats with 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a passer rating of 90.5 while completing 63.0% of his passes. This performance came during his first full season with the Jets, after recovering from a torn Achilles sustained in the opening game of the 2023 season.
Brett Favre, a Hall of Fame quarterback, is well-remembered for his lengthy career with the Green Bay Packers. After his time in Green Bay, Favre played for the Jets and later the Vikings. If Rodgers were to join Minnesota, he would be following a remarkably similar path to that of Favre, who was once his predecessor in Green Bay.
The Vikings made headlines when they traded up to select quarterback J.J. McCarthy with the No. 10 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, McCarthy’s rookie season was cut short due to a meniscus tear sustained in the preseason, leaving the team in search of a reliable quarterback option.
