Two-Time National Basketball Champion Transfers to Utah School

Andre Johnson Jr. Transfers to UVU After UConn Success

Andre Johnson Jr., a key member of the UConn Huskies, contributed to back-to-back men’s college basketball national championships. Born and raised in Connecticut, he joined UConn as a walk-on and played limited minutes over two seasons, participating in 22 games and scoring three points. Those three points came during the 2024 NCAA Tournament, where he made a memorable 3-pointer in the final seconds against Northwestern.

Choosing UVU over several other schools including Winthrop, James Madison, Central Connecticut, and Bryant, Johnson’s transfer to Utah Valley University is particularly intriguing. While he didn’t play many minutes for UConn, his experience with a championship team could bring invaluable skills and leadership to his new team.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 170 pounds, Johnson anticipates a fresh start at UVU. His choice also suggests he values both personal development and academic opportunities, leveraging his championship experience to make a meaningful impact in the Beehive State.
