Cal Football Lands Top Hawaiian QB Prospect, Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele
On Monday evening, three-star quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, Hawaii’s No. 1 prospect, committed to play for Cal. This was a significant addition to Justin Wilcox’s Golden Bears, securing the top uncommitted QB for the 2025 class. Standing at 6-foot-2, Sagapolutele chose Cal over offers from Oregon State, Boise State, and Utah State after making visits to all four schools in the spring.
Sagapolutele’s decision was influenced by a standout performance at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles, which brought him increased national attention. Remarkably, he threw for 3,757 yards and 37 touchdowns as a junior at Campbell High School. Cal’s appeal was sealed during a visit, with the quarterback highlighting the importance of player development under passing coordinator and quarterbacks coach Sterlin Gilbert as a key factor in his decision.
Joining Jae’on Young as Cal’s highest-rated prospects in the 2025 class, Sagapolutele emphasized both athletic and academic prospects at the university. His recruitment saw a late surge in interest, including an offer from SMU and inquiries from USC and Oregon, but Cal ultimately checked all his boxes for future success on and off the field. His commitment leaves just five quarterbacks in ESPN’s 2025 pocket passer and dual-threat rankings uncommitted.
