Tom Brady’s LFG Player of the Game for Week 7 is Chiefs offensive lineman Joe Thuney. Throughout the 2024 NFL season, Brady highlights a standout player in each game leading up to Super Bowl LIX.
In the recent matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, Thuney and his fellow offensive linemen played a pivotal role in Kansas City’s run game. On a day when quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggled with his passing, completing only 59.3% of his throws for 154 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions, the Chiefs relied heavily on their ground attack. They amassed 184 rushing yards, averaging 4.7 yards per carry, and scored all four touchdowns on the ground, securing a 28-18 victory.
“As an offensive line, we take pride in running the ball, especially when the defense expects it,” Thuney shared with Brady. “It’s a total team effort that involves tight ends, wide receivers, and running backs all contributing. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.”
Despite injuries to key players like running back Isiah Pacheco and wide receivers Rashee Rice and JuJu Smith-Schuster, the Chiefs have maintained their undefeated status. Thuney emphasized the team’s resilience, saying, “It’s a next-man-up mentality. Everyone practices hard and knows the playbook, whether they’re starting or not. Injuries are part of football, but this team has shown great unity.”

Mahomes’ ability to perform under pressure remains unmatched, particularly in high-stakes moments. His impressive 33-yard scramble set up a critical fourth-down touchdown run, showcasing his determination even on an off day.
Reflecting on his experiences, Thuney expressed gratitude for playing alongside both Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, though he humorously dodged Brady’s inquiry about who gives better Christmas gifts.
“You guys are both 10 out of 10,” Thuney remarked. “It’s unbelievable to play with such talent.”
