Mets and Braves Set for High-Stakes Doubleheader After Rainout Drama!

Rainout means Mets, Braves will play pivotal doubleheader on Monday

Rainout means the Mets and Braves will play a pivotal doubleheader on Monday. The final two games of an important series between the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves were postponed on Wednesday due to heavy rains caused by Hurricane Helene.

Originally, the regular season was scheduled to conclude on Sunday. However, the Mets will now return to Atlanta on Monday for a doubleheader that could determine their postseason fate.

As of now, the Mets (87-70) hold a narrow half-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the wild-card race, while the Braves (86-71) trail by one game. Only two of these teams will advance to the playoffs, which are set to kick off on Tuesday with a best-of-three wild-card round.

In the opening game of the series, the Braves defeated the Mets 5-1 on Tuesday night, putting pressure on New York as they head into this critical doubleheader. Fox Sports reports that the outcome of these games could significantly impact the postseason lineup.
