Syracuse Basketball Alumni Shine in NBA Summer League
Syracuse, N.Y. — NBA’s summer league in Salt Lake City started with a clash between former Syracuse players. Judah Mintz debuted for the Philadelphia 76ers while Buddy Boeheim began his journey with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Sixers triumphed, 102-92, and both players showcased their abilities in hopes of securing a spot on an NBA roster for the upcoming season.
Mintz delivered a solid performance in his 16 minutes for Philadelphia, scoring six points and boasting a defensive highlight where he forced a turnover that led to a breakaway dunk. He also contributed with two assists, two steals, and stayed efficient by making 3-of-5 field goals. Mintz shared the court mostly with Jared McCain, the Sixers’ recent first-round pick, which allowed Mintz to demonstrate his defensive prowess.
In his first appearance for the Thunder, Boeheim scored six points in nine minutes, hitting two out of four 3-point attempts and adding two rebounds. Coming off an Exhibit 10 contract, Boeheim looked to impress his new team after spending his early professional years with the Detroit Pistons. Fans can catch both Mintz and Boeheim in action again on Tuesday, with their games broadcasted on ESPN and ESPN2, respectively.
