Bologna is open to Premier League offers for their star defender Riccardo Calafiori following his standout performance at the European Championships. The Italian international has attracted interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Juventus. However, after losing their boss Thiago Motta to Juve, Bologna would prefer a sale to an English club. Arsenal’s interest may depend on Jakub Kiwior’s future, who is also eyed by Juventus and AC Milan.
Interestingly, Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, has been tracking Calafiori since his Bournemouth tenure, with the club now in the market for a left-footed centre-back. While Chelsea could also make a move, it would require a departure to balance their squad. West Ham has joined the list of admirers, but Bologna will demand a fee exceeding $50 million, considering Basel’s entitlement to a percentage of the sale.
Despite Juve’s leading position in the chase and Nottingham Forest’s interest, Bologna is keen to retain Calafiori, whose contract runs until 2028. Bologna’s sporting director, Marco Di Vaio, hopes the defender’s performances in Germany will increase his market value. However, for now, any transfer will occur strictly under Bologna’s terms.
