The Chicago Bears have made significant moves in the offseason, prompting Detroit Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown to express his frustration. “I feel like the Bears have unlimited f—ing money. This s— is crazy,” St. Brown remarked during a recent episode of “The St. Brown Show” podcast.
“They’re just breaking everybody off. … Ben’s [Ben Johnson] just making moves left and right,” he added, highlighting the Bears’ aggressive spending strategy.
On the trade side, the Bears have secured two-time All-Pro guard Joe Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs and guard Jonah Jackson from the Los Angeles Rams. In addition, they have reportedly signed defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo to a three-year, $48 million contract, defensive tackle Grady Jarrett for three years at $43.5 million, and center Drew Dalman for $42 million over three years.
St. Brown’s reaction is personal, considering the storied rivalry between the Lions and Bears. Furthermore, new Bears head coach Ben Johnson previously served as the offensive coordinator for Detroit. Adding to the dynamics, St. Brown’s podcast co-host is his older brother, Equanimeous St. Brown, a former Bears receiver.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, recognized as a two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler, had a standout season with 115 receptions for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has consistently performed at a high level, achieving over 100 receptions and 1,100 receiving yards in each of the last three seasons, along with double-digit touchdowns in the past two seasons.
Last season, Detroit dominated its matchups against Chicago, sweeping the series and ultimately winning the NFC North with an impressive 15-2 record, securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC. However, their playoff journey ended with a loss to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round. In contrast, the Bears struggled, finishing with a 5-12 record marked by a challenging 10-game losing streak.
