Greentree’s Exceptional Shot
Murray noticed the quality of Greentree’s shot. “He knows what he’s good at,” Murray explained. “And he’s got a real good shot for a kid that age. His shot comes off like an NHL shot. The player development guys are really looking forward to working with him in the next couple years.”
Physical Progression and Guidance
Continuing Greentree’s physical progression will be essential for his NHL journey. Jarret Stoll, a two-time Stanley Cup winner with Los Angeles and now in their player development department, laid out the roadmap. “We talked to him the other night after the draft," Stoll shared. "He’s 212 pounds now, and we joked 225 to 230 is where we want him, expecting him to end up there once he’s filled out and hopefully playing for the L.A. Kings.”
Preparedness for the Challenge
Greentree needs to refine how he converts added muscle into effective physical play against players of equal or greater caliber, which is not always required in junior hockey. Despite the challenges ahead, whether in the weight room or on the ice, Greentree is prepared. “I think I’m a guy who wants to get better and do whatever it takes for my team to win," he said. "I can crash the net, bang some bodies in front and get a dirty goal like that.”
