The Giants and Seahawks meet for the third consecutive season, with Seattle aiming for a third straight win over New York. In their previous encounter, the Seahawks dominated the Giants, winning 24-3 as 2.5-point road favorites, with the game finishing under the total of 46 points.

Can Malik Nabers Make a Comeback?

The New York Giants (1-3; 2-2 ATS) are coming off a narrow 20-15 loss at home to the Dallas Cowboys. Following a road victory against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3, the Giants are back on a losing streak, although they managed to cover a 5.5-point spread.

In the game against the Cowboys, the Giants outgained their opponents slightly in total yards, 303-293, but fell short in turnovers, ending the game with a 1-0 turnover margin and failing to capitalize on two red zone opportunities. Quarterback Daniel Jones recorded 281 passing yards but threw one interception, while the rushing attack was stifled, yielding only 26 yards on 24 carries.

“We need to improve our run game, and that starts with me,” Giants head coach Brian Daboll stated. “We experimented with various approaches, but nothing worked effectively.”

Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers shone last week with 12 receptions for 115 yards but is now in concussion protocol after sustaining an injury late in the game. Additionally, running back Devin Singletary did not practice on Thursday.

Singletary managed only 24 yards on 14 carries against the Cowboys. Currently, the Giants rank 30th in rushing yards per game (85.3) and dead last in yards per carry (3.4). They average a meager 15.0 points per game, placing them tied for 29th in the league, while allowing 21.0 points (12th).

Defensively, the Giants rank third in the NFL in sacks (15) and 14th in passing yards allowed (193.0 per game), although they struggle with a 27th ranking in opposing passer rating (106.5).

Seahawks Looking to Bounce Back After Defensive Setback

The Seattle Seahawks (3-1; 1-2-1 ATS) faced their first defeat of the season in Week 4, losing to the Detroit Lions 42-29. Prior wins include a close victory against the Denver Broncos (26-20) and back-to-back narrow victories over the New England Patriots (23-20 in overtime) and Miami Dolphins (24-3).

Despite outgaining the Lions in total yards (516-389), the Seahawks could not overcome a 2-0 turnover disadvantage. The defense faltered, allowing the Lions to convert all five of their red zone opportunities, while Jared Goff had an impressive game, completing all 18 of his passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns.

Geno Smith’s performance was notable, as he went 38-of-56 for 395 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. DK Metcalf made a significant impact with seven catches for 104 yards, but he also lost a fumble. On the ground, the Seahawks amassed 133 rushing yards, led by Kenneth Walker III, who scored three touchdowns on 80 yards from 12 carries.

“We simply did not perform as needed,” Seattle coach Mike Macdonald remarked. “Detroit executed their game plan effectively and outplayed us defensively.”

Offensively, the Seahawks are scoring an average of 25.5 points per game (tied for 9th), with eight of their 12 touchdowns coming on the ground. They rank 22nd in rushing yards (106.3 per game) while leading the league in passing yards (280.8). However, Geno Smith’s four touchdowns are paired with four interceptions, raising concerns.

Defensively, the Seahawks permit 21.3 points per game (tied for 13th) and allow 116.3 rushing yards (14th) and 167.5 passing yards (7th). They have tallied 14 sacks and 23 tackles for loss this season.

Heading into Week 5, the Seahawks’ defense faces challenges. Defensive tackle Byron Murphy II is sidelined with a hamstring injury, while linebackers Boye Mafe and Jerome Baker are uncertain for the matchup against the Giants. Fortunately, safety Julia Love returned to full practice on Thursday after missing the Lions game due to a concussion.

Key Predictions: New York Giants vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Giants are expected to apply pressure on Geno Smith; however, their lack of offensive firepower may hinder their ability to keep pace with the Seahawks. Seattle’s defense is anticipated to rebound after their recent struggles against Detroit. The Giants have shown signs of being one of the least productive offensive units in the league, especially with Malik Nabers potentially unavailable due to his concussion.

The Seahawks, eager to recover from a challenging loss, are likely to focus on their rushing game this week. The Giants may find it hard to match Seattle’s scoring capabilities.

While New York has covered the spread in eight of their last 11 games overall, they struggle against Seattle, having won just once in their last seven meetings with the Seahawks, both straight-up and against the spread.
