Cole Palmer has signed a new deal at Chelsea, extending his contract with the club until 2033, as announced by the Premier League team on Tuesday.
After transferring from Manchester City in September of the previous year, Palmer quickly established himself as one of the standout players in the Premier League. He concluded the season with an impressive tally of 22 goals, placing him second only to Erling Haaland of Manchester City, and earned a spot on England’s roster for the European Championship.
At just 22 years old, Palmer notably contributed to England’s efforts during the final match against Spain, scoring as a substitute in a 2-1 defeat.
With this new agreement, he is now committed to Chelsea for the next nine years, reflecting the club’s strategy of securing its young talent with long-term contracts.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Palmer stated, “I achieved a lot in my first season here, and hopefully I can continue to experience great things at this club, both on a personal level and in terms of bringing success and trophies to Chelsea.”
In addition to his contract extension, Palmer has made the six-man shortlist for the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year award, with the winner set to be revealed on August 20.
