Caitlin Clark made history by becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to hit 100 three-pointers in a single season. In a thrilling matchup, she scored 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out 10 assists, achieving her second career triple-double. This stellar performance helped propel the Indiana Fever to a 93-86 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday night.
With this achievement, Clark joins an elite group as the first rookie and fifth player in WNBA history to record multiple triple-doubles in a single season, alongside notable players like Alyssa Thomas, Courtney Williams, Sabrina Ionescu, and Candace Parker.
Aliyah Boston also shone for the Fever, contributing 24 points and 14 rebounds. The Fever, now at 18-16, clinched a playoff spot earlier in the week following losses by Atlanta and Chicago. Their current five-game winning streak marks the first time they have achieved this feat since 2015, and they have an impressive 10-1 home record since June 1.
With just 16.4 seconds remaining, Clark sealed the game with two free throws, extending Indiana’s lead to seven points. After a missed three-pointer by Kia Nurse, Clark secured the rebound, completing her triple-double.
In a post-game interview, Clark acknowledged her awareness of the triple-double but emphasized the team’s focus on defensive stops. Her defensive prowess was on display when she disrupted a pass in the paint, leading to a layup from Boston that gave the Fever a crucial 91-84 lead with just 25.2 seconds left.
Kelsey Mitchell added 18 points for Indiana, narrowly missing her eighth consecutive 20-point game, while NaLyssa Smith contributed 13 points.
On the other side, Odyssey Sims led the struggling Los Angeles Sparks (7-26) with 20 points. Dearica Hamby and Rae Burrell each chipped in 16 points, while Azura Stevens recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Sparks have faced tough times on the road, losing five consecutive games and 15 of their last 17 away from home this season.
