Chicago Blackhawks Prep for 2024-25 Season
Following the NHL Draft and free agency, the Chicago Blackhawks are gearing up for the 2024-25 regular season starting Oct. 4. The 2023-24 season ended with the Blackhawks ranked eighth in the Central Division, holding a 23-53-6 record. The team has made significant offseason moves to strengthen its roster and improve its standing.
Among the key arrivals, Tyler Bertuzzi, at 29, joined with a four-year contract and is expected to play in the top six, likely alongside Connor Bedard. Bertuzzi, who scored 43 points in 80 games last season, adds veteran experience and offensive prowess. Another crucial addition is Teuvo Teravainen, who re-signed for three years. Teravainen, a former Blackhawk and Stanley Cup winner, notched 53 points in 76 games with the Hurricanes last season. With his dynamic play, he is poised to become a valuable asset in Chicago’s offensive lineup.
Addressing the defense and goaltending, Laurent Brossoit signed a two-year deal, bringing solid numbers from his tenure with the Winnipeg Jets. The acquisition of Alec Martinez, a three-time Stanley Cup winner, provides seasoned defensive support. The Blackhawks also added forwards like Ilya Mikheyev, Pat Maroon, and Craig Smith, along with defenseman TJ Brodie. Each brings unique skills and experience to the team, aiming to bolster Chicago’s performance for a more competitive season.
