Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox will miss the remainder of the season due to a finger injury.
The San Antonio franchise announced that Fox is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday to address a tendon issue in his left hand.
Fox sustained the injury during training camp in October while still a member of the Sacramento Kings. Despite this setback, he managed to average 23.5 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds over 62 games this season. After being traded to the Spurs on February 3, he continued to contribute with averages of 19.7 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in 17 games.
His best performance with San Antonio came in a recent game against Dallas, where he scored 32 points, dished out 11 assists, and grabbed nine rebounds, leading the Spurs to a 126-116 victory.
The organization is optimistic about Fox’s recovery, anticipating that he will be ready for the start of next season.
During his tenure with the Kings, Fox earned recognition as an All-Star and was named to the All-NBA third team for the 2022-23 season. He also achieved a career-high average of 26.6 points and led the league in steals the following season.
