Arizona State Star RB Cam Skattebo Faces Lawsuit from Former Teammate: What It Means for His 2025 NFL Draft Hopes

Arizona State RB Cam Skattebo, 2025 NFL Draft prospect, sued by former teammate

Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo is facing a lawsuit from former teammate Mattheos Katergaris, who claims the player caused him injury and is seeking over $300,000 in damages through Maricopa County Superior Court.

The incident reportedly occurred during a Sun Devils practice in July 2023, when Skattebo allegedly “jumped up and down” on the back of a golf cart. This reckless behavior led to the cart’s back seat collapsing, causing Katergaris to fall and sustain serious injuries, including a ruptured elbow tendon that required surgical intervention.

Efforts to reach Skattebo for comments on the matter have been unsuccessful thus far.

Katergaris described the legal action as a last resort, emphasizing the archaic nature of the procedure.

Despite the legal troubles, Skattebo’s football career is still on the radar. He did not participate in workouts at the NFL Scouting Combine held in Indianapolis recently, yet he concluded his senior season at Arizona State with impressive statistics.

During the season, Skattebo rushed for a Big 12-leading 1,711 yards and scored 21 touchdowns, averaging 5.8 yards per carry. Additionally, he made 45 receptions for 605 yards and three touchdowns, playing a crucial role in leading Arizona State to a Big 12 championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 215 pounds, Skattebo also finished fifth in the 2024 Heisman Trophy voting, showcasing his potential as a standout athlete.
