Top MLB prospect Samuel Basallo launched a ball over the scoreboard during Spring Training at Ed Smith Stadium on Thursday, showcasing his impressive power.

The Baltimore Orioles secured an 11-8 victory, and the 20-year-old Basallo made his mark with a home run in his only at-bat.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Basallo signed with the Orioles as an international free agent in 2021. His rapid ascent through the ranks included a promotion to the triple-A Norfolk Tides in August, following a successful stint with the double-A Bowie Baysox.

The Orioles concluded the 2024 season as runners-up in the AL East, finishing just behind the New York Yankees, highlighting the competitive nature of the division.
