Chris Bassitt Rocks Humorous 4-10 Jersey as Bat Boy After Fantasy Football Loss

Chris Bassitt wears '4-10' jersey as bat boy for fantasy football punishment

Chris Bassitt wears a “4-10” jersey as he fulfills a fantasy football punishment.

The Toronto Blue Jays’ starting pitcher swapped his usual No. 40 for the number reflecting his last-place finish in the team’s fantasy football league. He took on the role of bat boy during a spring training matchup against the New York Yankees on Saturday.

Although the Blue Jays secured a victory, Bassitt’s unfortunate record was evident. His teammates did not hold back, especially since the day also marked Bassitt’s 36th birthday, adding a layer of playful ridicule to the occasion.

This lighthearted punishment seems to be a ritual within the Blue Jays’ clubhouse. In 2024, Tim Mayza experienced a similar fate during spring training. Credit goes to Blue Jays catcher Dalton Varsho, the fantasy league’s commissioner, who has a knack for motivating the losing players to complete their punishments, keeping the league competitive and engaging.

After a challenging 2024 season, where Bassitt recorded a 4.16 ERA—his lowest since 2016—he hopes for a turnaround in 2025. The Blue Jays are optimistic that his struggles in fantasy football will not carry over to his performance on the mound.
