Young collector pulls rare Paul Skenes card — here’s what the Pirates are offering for it. An 11-year-old enthusiast from Los Angeles has recently acquired a unique baseball card showcasing the National League Rookie of the Year, Paul Skenes.
On Tuesday, Topps revealed that this special card features the autograph of the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher, along with a patch from a jersey he wore during a game.
Now, the excitement shifts to determining its market value.
The young collector stands to gain significantly if he chooses to trade the card with the Pirates. The team has crafted an enticing offer that includes 30 years of season tickets located behind home plate at PNC Park. This deal also features a softball game for 30 guests hosted at the stadium, two autographed jerseys from Paul Skenes, and an exclusive meet-and-greet with the rising star.
Adding to the allure, Skenes’ girlfriend, Livvy Dunne, a gymnast from LSU and popular social media influencer, has extended an invitation to the card’s owner to join her in a luxury suite during one of Skenes’ starts at the ballpark.
The potential value of the card may be substantial, especially considering the promising future that lies ahead for the 22-year-old pitcher. Skenes finished third in the NL Cy Young Award voting after an impressive rookie season in 2024.
As the first overall pick in the 2023 amateur draft, Skenes made his major league debut in May, delivering one of the most remarkable rookie performances in recent history. After just 11 starts, he was selected as the NL’s starting pitcher in the All-Star Game, concluding the season with an impressive record of 11-3 and a 1.96 ERA across 23 games.
Recently, Skenes expressed that he has not yet contemplated signing a long-term contract with the Pirates. Instead, he is concentrating on helping the team make strides toward becoming contenders in 2025.
