Wisconsin strength coach Brady Collins made headlines on Saturday by jumping into Lake Michigan following the Badgers’ victory over Northwestern. This bold move was a fulfillment of his promise made earlier in the week, demonstrating his commitment to the team and their success.
After Wisconsin secured a decisive 23-3 win against the Wildcats, Collins honored his word, showcasing his spirited personality and dedication to the players.
“I loved it,” remarked safety Hunter Wohler. “That’s who Coach Brady is. He brings that energy and that juice every single day. He told us during the week, ‘When we win, I’ll jump in the lake.’ And he held true on that promise.”
As Collins approached the lakefront rocks near Northwestern’s temporary stadium, he playfully urged the team, “You guys don’t go anywhere.” Amid the laughter, someone shouted, “somebody save him!” as he prepared to make the leap.
With a splash, Collins dove into the chilly waters, eliciting cheers from the team before he emerged, invigorated and triumphant.
“It’s pretty crazy,” defensive lineman Curt Neal commented. “Coach Brady, he’s a crazy one.”
This matchup marked Northwestern’s final game of the season at its temporary lakefront stadium, which has hosted the Wildcats for five games. Upcoming fixtures against No. 4 Ohio State and No. 22 Illinois will be held at Wrigley Field on November 16 and 30. A new Ryan Field is slated to open in 2026, about a mile inland from the current location.
The temporary stadium offers a unique atmosphere, boasting postcard-perfect views and a capacity of around 12,000. Nestled next to Lake Michigan, it provides glimpses of the iconic Chicago skyline, enhancing the overall experience for fans and players alike.
