Betting Odds for Winning AFC East Division 2022-23

  • The 2022-23 NFL season begins September 8, 2022
  • The Buffalo Bills are favored to win the AFC East and Super Bowl LVII

Over the next few weeks leading up to the start of the 2022-23 NFL season, we’ll be combing through each division of pro football and providing our opinion on whether we agree with the betting odds.

NFL betting sites now have more confidence in completing the regular season schedule as we are two years into the COVID0-19 pandemic, resulting in game lines stretching into the month of November.

The combination of betting lines for every available game, as well as Divisional, Conference and Super Bowl 57 futures, allows for a unique perspective on what the upcoming season has to offer. In that case, we’ll see how these NFL odds predict final placement in the AFC East.

The Buffalo Bills (-235)

The Bills were 2021-22 AFC East champions but fell in a heartthrob against the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs. This year, NFL futures suggest the Bills will not only repeat themselves as division champions, but go all the way and win Super Bowl LVII.

They currently hold a -235 moneyline, which puts them 660 points ahead of their closest competitor, the Miami Dolphins. Betting on the favorite is often a difficult way to turn a profit, as a $2.35 bet will yield a $1 win if the Bills win the AFC East.

While it may seem like a no-brainer that the Bills will take over the division again, don’t sleep on the reloaded Dolphins or those pesky New England Patriots who never seem to be out of the hunt.

The Miami Dolphins (+425)

The Dolphins are entering the 2022-23 season with a new head coach in Mike McDaniel, former offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. Also added to the mix were former KC Chiefs, who welcome Tyreek Hill, offensive tackle Terron Armstead and running back Raheem Mostert across the board.

The Miami Dolphins’ staff has received significant upgrades across the board, but having that core of players gelling under a brand-new head coach in their first season might be asking too much.

The elephant in the room is QB Tua Tagovailoa. If he simply puts on a similar performance as last season, you can rest assured that Miami will move on and continue the search for a new quarterback either through free agency or next year’s draft.

We’re not convinced Tua is the answer in Miami and expect they’ll struggle early on in their search for an identity.

The New England Patriots (+500)

The Patriots were able to make the NFL playoffs last season with rookie quarterback Mac Jones at center, but for some reason pro football oddsmakers don’t anticipate a repeat in 2022-23.

We really like the +500 Moneyline AFC East odds for the New England Patriots bet and advise readers to consider a low dollar hedge before the sports betting gets smart.

New England actually beat the Bills at home last season and we see no reason to think they won’t be a better team when they come out of the tunnel in Week 1. Watch as Bill Belichick and the Patriots put on a solid year and finish no worse than second in the AFC East.

The New York Jets (+2000)

Most of the media coming out of the Jets camp these days is related to rumors about sophomore QB Zack Wilson’s love life and whether or not he’s hooked up with his mom’s best friend.

New York finished 4-13 last season and their 2022-23 schedule doesn’t offer easy wins. Watch for the Jets to end up in the basement of the division and bet on that outcome if you find a line that supports it.
