AP Top 25 rankings show Kansas firmly holding the No. 1 position.
The rest of the top 10 has become a whirlwind of team movements.
The reshuffling began with No. 8 Alabama’s 87-78 defeat against No. 6 Purdue, causing the Crimson Tide to tumble six spots while the Boilermakers surged up seven. Additional losses by Duke and Arizona further stirred the top 10.
No. 12 Duke fell six positions after their 77-72 loss to No. 9 Kentucky, which saw the Wildcats leap 10 spots to achieve their first top-10 ranking this season. Meanwhile, Arizona was bested 103-88 by No. 19 Wisconsin, resulting in an eight-spot drop to No. 17, marking the Badgers’ first ranking of the season.
Kansas solidified its top spot by following up its season-opening victory over North Carolina with wins against Michigan State and Oakland last week.
UConn continued its impressive run toward a potential third consecutive national championship, dominating Le Moyne with a 90-49 scoreline. Gonzaga overwhelmed UMass Lowell, Auburn triumphed over Kent State, and Iowa State secured a 26-point victory against Kansas City.
No. 7 Houston climbed one spot after bouncing back from a 74-69 loss to Auburn by decisively defeating Louisiana-Lafayette.
Wisconsin faced a roster overhaul following an unexpected exit in the NCAA Tournament last season against James Madison.
Coach Greg Gard addressed the gaps through strategic transfers, yet many analysts predicted a challenging season for the Badgers, placing them near the bottom of the Big Ten.
Those predictions have proven inaccurate.
After securing three straightforward victories against smaller schools, Wisconsin made headlines with a stunning win over Arizona. John Tonje dazzled with 41 points, just two shy of the school record, as the Badgers maintained a lead throughout the match, prompting an impassioned post-game address from Gard.
No. 25 Illinois joined Wisconsin as the only newcomers to the top 25, defeating Oakland 66-54 last week.
Ole Miss fell out of the rankings despite victories over South Alabama and Colorado State, while Ohio State dropped from No. 21 after losing 78-64 to No. 23 Texas A&M.
Arizona experienced the steepest decline, dropping eight spots, followed by Alabama and Duke, each falling six places.
Kentucky achieved the most significant rise among the ranked teams, jumping 10 spots, with Purdue following closely behind at seven.
The Southeastern Conference leads with seven ranked teams, including No. 11 Tennessee, No. 20 Arkansas, and No. 21 Florida.
The Big 12 boasts six teams in the rankings, while the Big Ten has five, followed by the Big East with four. The Atlantic Coast Conference is represented by two teams, and the West Coast Conference has one.
