2022-23 NFL Bold Predictions

Jalen Hurts is helping Philadelphia lead the NFL in goalscoring

The addition of wide receiver AJ Brown to an already talented — albeit unproven — group of skill-position players has made the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense one of the most dynamic and dangerous in the league this season.

Hurts could also be the quarterback that gets them over the top.

While his dual-threat capability is questionable following offseason surgery on his left ankle, the third-year quarterback is also not opposed to a defensive plan akin to the ’85 Bears. In fact, one could argue that Philadelphia has one of the lightest boards in the league.

Caesars Sportsbook has the Eagles at +1600 to lead the NFL in points this year, and if they try, Hurts will be the reason.

Lamar Jackson advances in rushing yards in the NFL

A quarterback has never led the NFL in rushing yards, and Jackson totaled 1,206 during his 2019 MVP campaign.

Obviously, a lot would have to be right for Jackson to pull off the feat.

With a mix of injuries affecting the league’s best running backs and increasing reliance on committee backfields, 2022 could have the perfect formula.

FanDuel Sportsbook is putting up a +4000 number that the Baltimore Ravens quarterback will top the rushing leader list by the end of the year.

Far from a true longshot.

Trey Lance fails to lead the 49ers to the playoffs

One of the biggest question marks for the San Francisco 49ers is whether sophomore quarterback Trey Lance is ready to lead the offense?

After all, Lance only played one game during the 2020 collegiate season for the FCS North Dakota State Bisons, and then he started just two games last year while spending the majority of his rookie campaign as an understudy to Jimmy Garoppolo.

DraftKings Sportsbook has the 49ers at heavily juiced -225 to make the 2022 postseason, and the 49ers competed in the NFC Conference Championship Game last year. Expectations remain high.

But just because head coach Kyle Shanahan and the rest of the San Francisco leadership believe in Lance doesn’t mean you have to do the same. The 49ers shouldn’t be viewed as a postseason lockdown with him behind center.
