Kansas legal sports betting Options have finally made their glittering debut. With few caveats, the “soft opening” of the state appears to be on the same scale as a full roll-out.
We celebrate the soft launch
On Thursday morning, residents gathered at the Hollywood Casino in Kansas City to hear Gov. Laura Kelly’s inaugural address. She celebrated the efforts of regulators and state officials who came together to make this happen. kelly said
“Every day I hear from Kansanians across the state who are keen to finally place a legal sports bet. I’m glad we were able to act quickly to get this cross-party effort done in time for the football season.”
Shortly after Kelly’s testimony and an exciting countdown, she became the first citizen to place a domestic bet in the state. When the sports book opened its doors around lunchtime, patrons poured in quickly.
And it wasn’t just the locals who submitted their bets on day one. Travelers from Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma each made their way to the Sunflower State to take part in the celebrations on day one.
Where to bet in Kansas
Today, retail betting runs at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane as well as the Hollywood Casino where Gov. Laura Kelly placed her bet.
Several other brick-and-mortar locations are expected to pop up across the US legal sports betting state in the coming years.
For example, Boot Hill Casino and Kansas Crossing already have the necessary betting licensing. However, the two have yet to complete the preparations at the casino to make this type of gambling possible.
Luckily, bettors don’t have to worry about making a trip to the east side to place their bets. Kansas already has all of its online and mobile sports betting options. The providers of the country and their partners are:
Bar stool sports betting – Hollywood Casino
DraftKings – Boot Hill Casino & Resort
fan duel – Kansas Star Casino
Caesars – Kansas Crossing Casino
BetMGM – Kansas Crossing Casino
PointsBet – Kansas Crossing Casino
Kansas Star, Boot Hill and Hollywood Casino can each still accept digital sportsbook partnerships with up to two other companies. With that in mind, the online gambling industry in Kansas still has a lot of room to grow.
developments outside the industry
Meanwhile, the advent of digital betting options outside of the industry is expected to bring about big and positive changes. During Gov. Laura Kelly’s inaugural address, she emphasized the community recovery aspect. She said,
“Now casinos, restaurants and other venues have another way to draw Kansans into their facilities — to create jobs and spur economic growth. And I’m willing to bet on that. Let’s go Chiefs!”
Kansans, which is set to become one of the largest gaming markets in the Midwest, should be excited for what’s to come.
