Dayton’s DaRon Holmes II Emerges as Perfect Prospect for Nuggets’ Draft

Dayton forward DaRon Holmes II is known for his signature greeting, “You’re a legend.” Starting in high school, it became his way of connecting with people. This friendly expression caught on among friends and fans alike. Now, he’s taken this attitude, along with his versatile basketball skills, to the Denver Nuggets, who drafted him 22nd overall.

Holmes’ adaptability on the court is a major draw. At 6’9″, he fits between a power forward and a small-ball center. Calvin Booth, the Nuggets’ GM, sees Holmes evolving into a starting four, especially defensively alongside Nikola Jokic. Denver appreciates his growth in college, particularly his improved three-point shooting.

Raised in Phoenix, Holmes initially dreamt of traveling the world and enjoyed soccer before focusing on basketball. His commitment to training paid off, leading to a successful stint at Dayton. As he steps into the NBA, Holmes remains approachable and humble, ready to contribute to Denver’s pursuit of championships.
