Dallas linebacker Micah Parsons firmly believes that CeeDee Lamb will be ready to play for the Cowboys in Week 1.
According to ESPN’s report on Tuesday, Parsons stated that Lamb, currently in discussions for a contract extension and absent from preseason activities, is actively reviewing practice footage and maintaining communication with his teammates during this period away from the field.
“We have our talks, but at the end of the day, CeeDee and I, along with the rest of the team, understand the situation,” Parsons remarked. “CeeDee is part of our brotherhood, whether he realizes it or not. He knows he’s not going anywhere.”
Parsons expressed confidence, stating there is “no doubt” that the talented wide receiver will be in uniform for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns on September 8.
“I’m certain he’ll be here soon because there is no doubt about it; Week 1, he will be suited up for the Dallas Cowboys,” Parsons declared emphatically.
Currently, Lamb is holding out and has opted out of all training camps, including the Cowboys’ first preseason game this season.
Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer remains unfazed by Lamb’s absence, expressing confidence that, if a deal is finalized, the three-time Pro Bowler will be prepared for the regular season.
“CeeDee’s going to be ready… He knows our system. He and Dak [Prescott] have what I would estimate are thousands of reps together. He’s staying in shape and keeping ready,” Schottenheimer noted.
Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones mentioned last week that he does not feel a sense of urgency regarding Lamb’s contract negotiations. However, both Parsons and Jones acknowledged this week that the 25-year-old wide receiver is “missed” by the team.
Lamb was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, signing a four-year contract worth $14.01 million, which included a $7.7 million signing bonus and a fifth-year team option.
