Nuggets Star Aaron Gordon Set for Extended Absence Due to Calf Injury

Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon expected to miss multiple weeks with calf strain

Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon is expected to miss multiple weeks due to a calf strain. Sources revealed on Tuesday that the severity of the injury remains undisclosed. Gordon exited Monday’s victory against Toronto during the first quarter and did not return to the game.

This setback is particularly challenging for the Nuggets, who have already been coping without guard Jamal Murray, who has been sidelined for the last two games due to concussion protocol.

This season, Gordon has been a key contributor, averaging 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds while clocking in about 30 minutes of play each game. His performance has been vital for the team’s success.

At 29 years old, Gordon recently signed a lucrative four-year, $133 million contract extension, solidifying his role as an essential player for the franchise. His contributions were instrumental in helping the Nuggets secure their first NBA championship during the 2022-23 season.

Originally drafted by the Orlando Magic as the fourth overall pick in 2014, Gordon was traded to the Denver Nuggets in March 2021. Since then, he has captivated fans with his athleticism, particularly his impressive dunks and ability to score near the rim.

Before the current season, Gordon made a poignant decision to change his jersey number to No. 32 in honor of his late brother, Drew, who tragically passed away in an auto accident in Oregon last spring.
