A Yankee Stadium fan was ejected during Game 4 of the World Series for forcibly removing a foul ball from the glove of Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts on Tuesday night.
In a dramatic moment, Betts leapt at the wall in foul territory to catch a pop-up hit by Gleyber Torres in the first inning. However, a fan in a gray Yankees’ road jersey reached out with both hands, grabbing Betts’ glove and yanking the ball away. This led to an immediate call of fan interference, resulting in Torres being declared out.
This incident marked the second time Torres faced fan interference in the current World Series. Earlier, during Game 1 at Dodger Stadium, he hit a fly ball to left field, where a fan reached over and caught it, leading to Torres receiving a double.
The Dodgers, now just one victory away from clinching their second championship in five years, took an early 2-0 lead thanks to Freddie Freeman’s two-run homer off pitcher Luis Gil in the top of the first inning.
