Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks will miss at least four games due to a knee infection, a setback for Dallas as they rely on their second receiver behind All-Pro CeeDee Lamb.
Following the Cowboys’ narrow 20-15 victory against the New York Giants on September 26, Cooks experienced complications from a procedure on his knee, which led to an infection that required additional surgery.
The issue with his knee has been persistent since training camp. Although Cooks departed California a few days early, he managed to participate in the season’s first games without missing any time. So far this season, he has recorded nine receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown.
With Cooks sidelined, rookie sixth-round pick Ryan Flournoy will have the opportunity to make his NFL debut after being inactive for the first four weeks of the season.
Jalen Tolbert, who achieved career highs with six catches for 82 yards in a Week 2 loss to New Orleans, is expected to step into Cooks’ role, providing the Cowboys with a chance to showcase their depth at the wide receiver position.
