Tom Brady highlighted how Dak Prescott’s leadership was instrumental in the Dallas Cowboys’ decisive 33-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday. This win came shortly after Prescott secured a record-breaking four-year contract extension with the team, valued at up to $240 million, showcasing his importance to the franchise.
As the highest-paid player in NFL history, Prescott demonstrated his skills by completing 19 of 32 passes for 179 yards and one touchdown. He faced a formidable Browns defense, which was recognized as one of the league’s best last season. His touchdown pass marked the Cowboys’ opening score, a well-executed 22-yard completion to wide receiver Brandin Cooks, overcoming a blitz.
Brady, making his debut as the lead NFL analyst for FOX Sports, praised Prescott’s performance, noting that the quarterback’s experience was key to securing the road victory. He pointed out how Prescott remained calm under pressure, illustrating his ability to lead effectively.
“Nothing’s too big for him,” Brady stated. He elaborated on Prescott’s touchdown pass to Cooks, emphasizing how the quarterback recognized the blitz, adjusted the protection, and still managed to deliver a perfect throw despite the pressure.
Brady further explained that Prescott’s ability to command the offense makes him deserving of the lucrative contract. He noted that Prescott exemplifies what it means to be a field general, showcasing poise and a deep understanding of the game, even in challenging situations like a noisy away game.
“Why do you sign Dak to this contract? Because he has the ability to be the true field general that every team seeks. He plays with great composure and has a solid grasp of the offense,” Brady added. “His performance today was just one instance of many where he displayed complete control.”
