2024 MLB Power Rankings: Dodgers Assert Dominance as Baseball’s Elite

2024 MLB Power Rankings: Dodgers make emphatic case as best team in baseball

2024 MLB Power Rankings indicate that the Los Angeles Dodgers are making a strong case as the best team in baseball.

In the National League West, the Dodgers have established a comfortable lead, while the New York Mets are poised to challenge the Atlanta Braves for a wild-card position, turning heads in the playoff race.

Here are the latest power rankings, featuring World Series odds from FanDuel Sportsbook.

10. New York Mets (74-64, last week unranked)
World Series odds: +8000

9. San Diego Padres (79-61, LW 10)
World Series odds: +1600

The Padres, currently the top wild-card seed in the NL, are on a roll after winning two of three against the Tampa Bay Rays. Veteran pitcher Joe Musgrove has returned to form, allowing only four runs in his last five outings.

8. Arizona Diamondbacks (77-61, LW 7)
World Series odds: +2100

7. Cleveland Guardians (79-59, LW 6)
World Series odds: +1600

Cleveland has shown consistency this season, although they recently struggled against the Kansas City Royals, losing three of four. However, they bounced back, taking two of three from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Josh Naylor has been particularly impressive, batting .524 with eight RBIs in his last seven games.

6. Houston Astros (75-63, LW 9)
World Series odds: +800

The Astros have created a six-game gap over the Seattle Mariners in the AL West. After a tough series against the Phillies, they swept the Royals in four games. The return of All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker, who is recovering from a fractured shin, adds to their optimism.

4. New York Yankees (80-58, LW 1)
World Series odds: +500

The Yankees faced a setback, failing to capitalize on opportunities in the AL East by dropping series to the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals. Despite the star power of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, the team has struggled to maintain a winning record over the last three months.

3. Milwaukee Brewers (81-57, LW 5)
World Series odds: +2200

Despite losing Christian Yelich for the season, Milwaukee remains competitive, trailing the Dodgers by just two games for the best record in the NL. After winning two of three against the Giants, they took three of four from the Cincinnati Reds, boasting a strong run differential this season.

2. Philadelphia Phillies (81-56, LW 4)
World Series odds: +490

The Phillies seem to be regaining their form after a strong showing against the Dodgers and consecutive series wins against the Astros and Braves. Zack Wheeler delivered a stellar performance with seven shutout innings, while Nick Castellanos clinched a victory with a walk-off single in extra innings against Atlanta.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers (83-55, LW 2)
World Series odds: +310

The Dodgers have turned their season around, winning 11 of their last 14 games to solidify their position at the top of the standings. With Shohei Ohtani making headlines and Freddie Freeman hitting four home runs with ten RBIs in a recent series, the Dodgers are asserting themselves as the team to beat.

Out: Kansas City Royals (75-64, LW 8); World Series odds: +3200
