Hill: Favoring the Detroit Lions
“While I acknowledge the talent of the 49ers, I lean towards betting Under 11.5 on their win total. The phenomenon of the Super Bowl hangover is well-documented, and the rest disadvantage is a genuine concern.”
Schwartz: Agrees that the Lions are the safest bet for the NFC
“The Lions present the fewest uncertainties when examining their roster and overall construction. Dan Campbell’s coaching style is a significant factor; his aggressive approach resonates well within the locker room. They achieved considerable success last season.
“In contrast, the Philadelphia Eagles have some pressing questions. They must replace Jason Kelce, and the impact on their offensive line remains to be seen. With new coordinators in place, there’s uncertainty surrounding Nick Sirianni’s leadership. Meanwhile, the 49ers seem to be facing internal challenges.”
Murray: Bettors are favoring the Lions and the Los Angeles Rams; aligns with Hill and Schwartz on San Francisco and Detroit
“The majority of bets are on the Lions, but a surprising amount of money is coming in on the Rams, whose odds have shifted from 20-1 to 15-1. Personally, I’m inclined towards the Rams. The 49ers appear disorganized, and betting Under 11.5 has proven to be a sharp move.
“Despite my instinct to bet against the Lions, given their excellent season last year, I find it hard to do so because I admire Dan Campbell’s leadership. They should have clinched the NFC Championship last season.”
Are you placing bets on the Kansas City Chiefs for a three-peat this season? Who are the sportsbooks hoping for, John?
Murray: The sportsbooks prefer anyone but the Chiefs
“Initially, we set the Chiefs at 10-1 to win the Super Bowl. However, due to heavy betting on them, we had to adjust their odds downward. I can’t fault anyone for betting on a Chiefs future; they are a formidable team.
“Still, I hope it’s not the Chiefs. I would prefer to see a new contender emerge.”
Schwartz: Betting on the Chiefs to claim another title
If you’re not betting on the Chiefs for the AFC or Super Bowl, which team do you support in the conference?
Hill: I have already placed a bet on the New York Jets to win the AFC and plan to back them for the Super Bowl as well
Murray: Leaning towards the Cincinnati Bengals for the AFC title
“If forced to choose, I’d select the Bengals. They’ve proven their capability in the past, notably in 2021. I believe they should have won the AFC Championship Game in 2022, but controversial officiating favored the Chiefs. They could have easily clinched two consecutive AFC title games.”
Who is your favorite bet for the first coach fired?
The Bear: Nick Sirianni (+1000) and Sean McDermott (+1400) are strong contenders based on the odds
“Sirianni is a name that comes to mind, especially if the team struggles early on. After firing coordinators and overhauling the roster, accountability falls on him.
“[With McDermott], the team has consistently underperformed. They’ve lost key players, and their early schedule is tough. A rough start could spell trouble for him.”
Hill: McDermott offers the best value
“McDermott has shifted blame onto others but has somehow avoided accountability. With significant changes in coaching staff, high expectations loom over him. Their championship window seems to be closing.”
Murray: Matt Eberflus (+1200)
“I was surprised he retained his position last year. It’s rare for a team with the first overall pick to draft a quarterback and head into a season with expectations. The pressure on him is mounting.”
