49ers’ Ricky Pearsall Hospitalized After Shooting: Update on His Condition

49ers' Ricky Pearsall in 'serious but stable' condition after being shot

49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is currently in “serious but stable” condition following a shooting incident during an attempted robbery in central San Francisco on Saturday, according to a statement from the team.

The 23-year-old player was hit in the chest by a bullet amid the alleged robbery attempt, which took place in the bustling Union Square area, as confirmed by San Francisco Mayor London Breed on social media.

In their official statement, the 49ers expressed their support, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Ricky and the entire Pearsall family.”

Mayor Breed echoed these sentiments, stating, “My thoughts are with Ricky and his family at this time.”

According to the San Francisco police, both Pearsall and the suspect were injured during the robbery. They were both transported to the hospital for treatment, although police have not provided additional details.

A spokesperson for the team was contacted for further information. 49ers teammate Deebo Samuel shared an update on X, stating, “He’s good. Thank god!!!!”

Drafted in the first round by the 49ers with the 31st overall pick in April, Pearsall has faced challenges with injuries since joining the team.

He previously missed training camp due to hamstring and shoulder problems but returned to practice last week wearing a noncontact blue jersey as he continues to recover.

Pearsall started his college career at Arizona State before transferring to Florida, where he had an impressive final two seasons. Last season, he recorded 65 receptions for 965 yards and four touchdowns, concluding his college career with a total of 159 catches for 2,420 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The 49ers had high hopes for Pearsall’s contributions as a rookie, anticipating he would serve as a valuable backup to starters Brandon Aiyuk and Samuel.
