2024 NFL odds show the New York Jets favored to dethrone the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East.
Fans may still be buzzing about the Jets, as the excitement surrounding the team seems far from fading.
Last season, the Jets faced setbacks when star quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury on the very first drive. Now, with Rodgers back on the field and a fortified offensive line, the team is poised for a resurgence that has sportsbooks taking notice.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Jets are currently at +160 to win the AFC East, placing them slightly ahead of the Buffalo Bills, who sit at +195.
The Bills have dominated the division in recent years, clinching the title four consecutive times after the New England Patriots’ impressive 17 wins from 2001 to 2019.
DraftKings Sportsbook also lists the Jets as +165 favorites for the division, with Buffalo trailing at +195.
When division odds were first released in March, the Bills were at +130 to repeat, with the Miami Dolphins at +180 and the Jets at +300.
The Jets haven’t finished above third place in the AFC East since 2015, and their last division championship was in 2002.
On a recent episode of “Breakfast Ball,” FOX Sports’ Craig Carton claimed that the Jets have the strongest roster in the NFL, affirming that the expectations are justified.
Carton noted, “With Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, he holds an impressive 81-10 record when his defense allows 20 points or fewer. This will be the best defense he has ever played with in the NFL. The New York Jets boast the best defensive line, top-tier linebackers, a solid secondary, exceptional wide receivers, and one of the leading running backs in the league.”
Indeed, the Jets’ defense was remarkable last season, ranking among the top five teams by allowing under 300 yards of total offense per game (292.3, third in the NFL).
New York permitted only 20.9 points per game, and running back Breece Hall amassed 994 rushing yards in 17 games. Despite the quarterback carousel featuring Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle, and Trevor Siemian, the Jets still managed to secure seven victories.
