Christian Yelich Set to Undergo Season-Ending Back Surgery: What This Means for the Brewers’ Playoff Hopes

Brewers' outfielder Christian Yelich to have season-ending back surgery

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is set to undergo season-ending back surgery.

On Thursday, the Brewers announced Yelich’s decision, which followed thorough discussions with his medical team. The procedure will be conducted by Dr. Brandon Rebholz in Milwaukee on Friday.

At 32 years old, Yelich has not participated in games since being taken out on July 23. Despite this setback, the Brewers maintain a nine-game lead over the Cincinnati Reds in the National League Central division as of Thursday evening.

This season, the 2018 NL MVP achieved his third All-Star selection. He boasted impressive statistics, hitting .315 with a .406 on-base percentage, along with 11 home runs, 42 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases in 73 games, all while managing a persistent back issue that had previously placed him on the injured list twice.
