Warriors Eye Buddy Hield in Potential 76ers Sign-and-Trade Following Klay Departure

The Golden State Warriors are in “serious talks” with the Philadelphia 76ers about a sign-and-trade deal involving shooting guard Buddy Hield, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. Both teams are in “deep discussions” and working to finalize the trade. Hield could potentially replace Klay Thompson, who recently departed the Warriors to join the Dallas Mavericks in a sign-and-trade, securing a three-year, $50 million contract.

Hield began the 2023-24 season with the Indiana Pacers before moving to the Philadelphia 76ers as part of a three-team deal. His performance over 84 appearances included averaging 12.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 43.6% from the field and 38.6% from three-point range. Despite these stats, Hield struggled toward the end of the season with the 76ers.

Daryl Morey, Philadelphia’s team president, acknowledged that the fit with Hield was less effective than expected. However, if Hield joins the Warriors, he could see a larger role. Historically, he has excelled with increased minutes, contributing significantly from long range in multiple seasons throughout his career.
