Zuby Ejiofor's last-second jumper lifts St. John's past Providence, 72-70

Zuby Ejiofor’s last-second jumper propelled St. John’s to a thrilling 72-70 victory over Providence on Friday night. With just one second remaining, Ejiofor’s decisive shot not only secured the win but also showcased his clutch performance under pressure.

In addition to his 19 points, Ejiofor dominated the boards, recording 10 rebounds for the Red Storm (10-2, 2-0 Big East Conference). Deivon Smith also had a strong showing, contributing 17 points with an efficient 8 of 15 shooting. RJ Luis rounded out the scoring effort with 16 points, despite struggling from beyond the arc.

On the other side, Bensley Joseph led the Friars (7-6, 1-1) with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Jayden Pierre added 16 points to the mix. Wesley Cardet Jr. chipped in with 10 points, helping keep the game competitive.

Kadary Richmond made an impact early, scoring eight points in the first half, but St. John’s found themselves trailing 42-29 at halftime. Ejiofor’s remarkable second-half performance, where he netted 12 points, turned the tide and culminated in the game-winning shot.

Looking ahead, St. John’s will face Delaware at home on Saturday, while Providence prepares to host Marquette on Tuesday, both teams eager to build on their respective performances.
