VCU-Saint Louis men's basketball game delayed by massive brawl in stands

The VCU-Saint Louis men’s basketball game was interrupted by a significant brawl in the stands, leading to a delay of approximately seven minutes with just 1:10 left on the clock.

Although the reason for the altercation remains unclear, it involved multiple individuals and even spilled onto the court, prompting security personnel and law enforcement to intervene before play could resume.

In the midst of this chaos, Gibson Jimerson shone brightly for Saint Louis, scoring an impressive 26 points to help his team secure a 78-69 victory over VCU.

Jimerson also contributed five rebounds for the Billikens, who now hold a record of 13-8 and 6-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Kobe Johnson added 19 points, shooting 6 of 10 from the field, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc, while also grabbing six rebounds. Robbie Avila was effective as well, finishing with 14 points, having shot 3 of 5 from the field and a perfect 8 for 8 from the free-throw line.

For the Rams, Zeb Jackson led the scoring with 15 points and contributed two steals. Phillip Russell matched his effort with another 15 points, while Max Shulga rounded out the scoring with 14 points. This defeat marked the end of VCU’s six-game winning streak, a disappointing turn for the team.

Jimerson’s performance was pivotal; he scored 10 points in the first half, helping Saint Louis close the gap as they entered halftime trailing 31-28. His 16-point second half was crucial in sealing the nine-point win for the Billikens.
