UNLV offensive lineman Ben Christman found dead in off-campus apartment

UNLV offensive lineman Ben Christman has tragically been found dead in an off-campus apartment, as confirmed by the university.

At just 21 years old, Christman was discovered on Tuesday morning. The university has not released further details, and the Clark County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death.

The university has reached out to Christman’s family and the football team, offering counseling services to help cope with this sudden loss.

UNLV coach Dan Mullen expressed deep sorrow in a statement, saying, “Our team’s heart is broken to hear of Ben’s passing. Since Ben arrived on campus just a month ago, he enriched the Rebels program. He quickly earned the respect and friendship of his teammates, making him a natural fit for our leadership committee. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and everyone who knew him. Ben truly made the world a better place, and his absence will be profoundly felt.”

Christman’s college journey began at Ohio State, where he was a highly regarded prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He redshirted during his first year and participated in one game in 2022 before transferring to Kentucky. Although he did not play in 2023 due to a knee injury, he contributed to all 12 games last season on special teams.

After his time at Kentucky, he made the decision to transfer to UNLV.

UNLV President Keith Whitfield shared his condolences, stating, “There is little that can be said to lessen the pain of suddenly losing a member of our university family at such a young age. My heart breaks for all who knew and loved him.”
