(Top-100 ranking in parentheses)
10. Chauncey Golston, Cowboys (69)
9. Azeez Ojulari, Giants (66)
Azeez Ojulari has proven to be an underappreciated talent in the league. As a situational edge rusher, he recorded six sacks in just 11 games last season, bringing his career total to 22. His quickness and agility make him a threat to opposing quarterbacks. However, his durability remains a concern, as he has not completed a full season since his rookie year, missing 22 out of 51 games due to various injuries. Currently, the 24-year-old is on the mend from a torn ligament in his toe, alongside a history of calf, ankle, and hamstring issues.
8. DeMarcus Lawrence, Cowboys (54)
DeMarcus Lawrence faced a tough season, playing only four games before succumbing to a foot injury in September. Despite this setback, he managed to tally three sacks and five quarterback hits, showcasing a performance that was ahead of his previous five-year average. As he approaches 33, he may not return to double-digit sack numbers, but when fit, he remains a formidable force on defense, although health has eluded him in two of the last four seasons.
7. Patrick Jones, Vikings (50)
6. Dante Fowler Jr., Commanders (45)
Dante Fowler Jr., at 30, led the Washington Commanders with an impressive 10.5 sacks in 2024. His ability to remain productive into his 30s sets him apart, and he also recorded 28 quarterback hurries, demonstrating his relentless pursuit of the passer. Fowler still possesses significant potential to impact games positively.
5. Dayo Odeyingbo, Colts (40)
4. Chase Young, Saints (23)
Chase Young, 25, demonstrated his ability to stay healthy last season, notching 5.5 sacks in his debut year with the New Orleans Saints. The team’s financial struggles could lead to a vital decision regarding his extension before free agency. If they act quickly, they could avoid $9 million in dead money. Young, previously the No. 2 overall draft pick, has immense potential and could command a salary of at least $15 million annually as he seeks a new deal.
3. Haason Reddick, Jets (20)
Haason Reddick stood out as one of the most effective pass rushers in the NFL from 2020 to 2023, achieving a remarkable 50.5 sacks across three teams. However, his image took a hit after forcing a trade to the Jets, which was followed by a holdout and a disappointing season where he only managed one sack in 10 games. Now at 30, he is poised for a lucrative contract, but teams may hesitate due to the uncertainty surrounding his recent performance.
2. Josh Sweat, Eagles (9)
Josh Sweat showcased his skills with a standout performance in the Super Bowl, recording 2.5 sacks, which undoubtedly caught the attention of NFL franchises. However, it is essential to note that those sacks were his first in six games. While he is not consistently dominant, he has proven he can reach the quarterback effectively. With eight sacks this season and a total of 33 over the past four years, Sweat remains a solid option as a second-tier edge rusher at 27.
1. Khalil Mack, Chargers (6)
Khalil Mack remains a prominent figure in edge rushing, even as he approaches 34. He recorded six sacks for the Chargers, following a remarkable 17-sack season in 2023. Mack’s experience and leadership have been invaluable to a top-tier defense. While he hinted at contemplating retirement after the season, recent reports suggest he plans to continue playing in 2025.
