Sixers center Joel Embiid to miss at least 10 days with sprained left foot

Joel Embiid will miss at least 10 days due to swelling in his left knee, marking yet another injury challenge for the Philadelphia 76ers’ All-Star center. This season, he has only participated in 13 games, raising concerns about his overall health and impact on the team’s performance.

Previously, Embiid was out for six games because of a sprained left foot. While he had recently recovered from that injury, the 76ers announced on Friday that he developed knee swelling following a workout on Thursday. After discussions with both team medical staff and external specialists, Embiid will undergo further treatment and will be reassessed in a week to ten days.

As a result of this setback, Embiid will not play in Saturday’s match against Indiana, nor will he participate in games on Sunday at Milwaukee and Tuesday at Denver.

This season, Embiid has already missed 26 games. The 76ers’ record reflects this struggle, with a 7-6 standing when he plays compared to an 8-18 record in his absence. Currently, they sit at 15-24 overall, placing them 11th in the Eastern Conference.

Injuries have significantly impacted the 76ers this season, as the trio of Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey have only shared the court for 10 games together, achieving a 7-3 record during that span.
