Pistons guard Jaden Ivey was stretchered off the court following a severe leg injury during the team’s 105-96 win against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night, where he had an impressive performance, scoring 22 points.
With just over ten minutes remaining in the game and the Pistons ahead 84-79, Ivey collided with Orlando’s Cole Anthony as they both pursued the ball. Anthony lost his footing and inadvertently crashed into Ivey’s planted leg, causing the young athlete to collapse in pain, clutching his left shin. The medical team from Detroit rushed to his aid.
In an effort to shield Ivey from the audience, training staff held up towels while players from both teams formed a protective circle around him. After an extended delay, he was carefully placed on a stretcher and taken out of the arena, a towel draped over the affected area.
In a show of sportsmanship, players from both the Pistons and the Magic offered words of comfort to Ivey and Anthony, who appeared visibly shaken by the incident. This moment highlighted the camaraderie within the sport, even amidst fierce competition.
