As Mahomes steps onto the field for Super Bowl LIX, he stands at the threshold of history. If he secures victory, he would become the first quarterback in the Super Bowl era to win three consecutive championships, a feat that has eluded even the legendary Brady.
In a recent interview with Mahomes for FOX’s Super Bowl pregame show, Brady expressed his admiration for the Chiefs’ quarterback, saying that witnessing a three-peat would be exciting. He emphasized that such achievements do not diminish his own legacy.
“It’s natural for fans and analysts to draw comparisons between players and teams across generations,” Brady stated. “However, my focus has always been on my own journey and accomplishments.”
Brady’s career is filled with remarkable achievements, including seven Super Bowl titles—six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite his accolades, the elusive three-peat remains unclaimed. The last team to come close was the Green Bay Packers, who won the NFL championship in 1965, followed by victories in Super Bowls I and II.
Brady had his chance during his tenure with the Patriots, winning back-to-back titles in Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX. However, their pursuit of a three-peat ended in the 2005 playoffs when they fell to the Denver Broncos.
