Nebraska officially names Dylan Raiola as the starting quarterback for the upcoming season, a decision announced by the team on Wednesday.
Raiola had been the frontrunner for the position ever since his surprise commitment to Nebraska just before early signing day last December. Previously, he had pledged to Georgia and Ohio State. Considered one of the top recruits in the 2024 class, Raiola’s talent has been widely recognized across the college football landscape.
Ultimately, Raiola chose to sign with Nebraska, a program with rich family connections. His father, Dominic Raiola, earned All-American honors as an offensive lineman for the Cornhuskers in the late 1990s and has had his number retired. Additionally, his uncle, Donovan Raiola, currently serves as Nebraska’s offensive line coach.
Donovan Raiola remained on staff when head coach Matt Rhule took over the program in 2023, highlighting the importance of familial ties in the team’s dynamics.
Dylan Raiola’s first game as a college athlete will take place in Week 1 when Nebraska faces UTEP. This matchup sets the stage for an exciting Week 2 clash against Colorado, where Raiola will compete against the Buffaloes’ Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders and standout quarterback Shedeur Sanders, making it a highly anticipated event for fans and players alike.
