Mike Muscala Retires from NBA to Pursue Sports Management Degree

NBA veteran Mike Muscala announced his retirement, confirming his plans to attend grad school for a master’s degree in sports management. Muscala, who wrapped up last season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, aims for a future in basketball coaching or administration. He expressed gratitude for his career journey via text message.

Throughout his 11 seasons in the NBA, Muscala played for seven teams, including multiple stints with the Thunder. Known for his ability as a stretch big man, he averaged 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 37.3% from beyond the arc. His career began in 2013 when the Dallas Mavericks selected him with the 44th pick in the NBA Draft.

Reflecting on his career’s latter years, Muscala appreciated his time with the Thunder, emphasizing the supportive community and loyal fans. Despite the challenges of constant relocations, his final stop in Oklahoma City left a lasting impact, solidifying his lifelong support for the team.
